Mission and Purpose

The mission of the Office of Internal Audit (OIA) is to earn and preserve the trust of Arkansans by promoting accountability, integrity, and efficiency in the operation of the executive branch of Arkansas government.  Our purpose is to support executive agency management in the discharge of their governance, risk management, and internal control responsibilities through independent, objective assurance and consultation activities of executive branch functions.  These activities provide executive agency management information that assists them in the achievement of their objectives surrounding efficiency and effectiveness of operations, internal and external reporting, compliance with laws and regulations, and safeguarding of state assets.  All work performed by OIA is conducted in accordance with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.  This work includes:

  • Audit/Assurance Services,
  • Consulting Activities,
  • Coordination of statewide Control Self-Assessment Activities,
  • Fraud Investigations, and
  • Management Advisory Services
